Just got an update from Quickoffice that its has been been acquired by Google. Wow, Great news for Google Drive users.
I am a big fan of QUICK OFFICE & think its revolutionary app for all the official use of your iPad or Android Tablet. It really makes it easy & fun to create, edit & manage your official documents whether they are Word docs, Presentations or Excel documents.
Announcement was made today(Tuesday 6th June 2012) with an email from the CEO & Co-Founder of the company, Alan Masarek. You can check a screenshot above. Its a great news for Google Drive users because the moment Google launched the drive & merged its DOCs service to the Drive. I was hoping it would give the docs editing functionality to all the devices as it gives you on Android(But still it was weak compared to of Quick Office). But Google launched G-Drive without any app to access it on Apple iPads. And we all know if it is to complete with services like Dropbox, Box & SugerSync with something better which of course is availability of Google’s Docs on all devices in your drive. Plus docs really don’t have much use if you can’t really create or edit them on the device you are using G-Drive on. Analysts also said Google is trying to come up with its own mobile office suite looking ta the situation that Microsoft is not really eager to release its Office suit on other mobile platforms like Android or iOS.
So to solve that problem for its beloved users, Google have done a great job acquiring QuickOffice. Because Quick Office really is the best docs editing facility you can have on your mobile devices.
Details of the acquisition like how much money & people involved were not disclosed. All we know till is that Quick Office is offering a Full-Refund withing next 30 days and asking to move your data prior to 15th of July which is the last day of operation for Quick Office.
